The 38th edition also takes us into the history of secondary education in Veendam, revealing how several teachers from that era went on to make their mark in the world of academia. We meet the followers and fellow thinkers of Domela Nieuwenhuis, and discover the story of a noble yet ultimately unsuccessful dream: the pursuit of a cooperative world.
An estate inventory provides the starting point for another extensive and fascinating article. And the almanac does not stop at the more distant past.
