Do you have an affinity with e-commerce? Do you enjoy working in a cultural environment? In this internship you will learn all the ins and outs of content management and online marketing at the intersection of retail and heritage.
Dutch Museum Gift Shop aims to provide Dutch museums with a new stream of income by providing a platform to sell museum shop products online. Founded in the spring of 2020, our platform currently features 13 museums, with several others lined up to follow soon. Some of the prominent names featured on Dutch Museum Gift Shop include Rijksmuseum, Tropenmuseum, Eye Film Museum and Naturalis.
As our new intern, you will actively take part in everything related to online marketing and e-commerce for our fast-growing webshop. Moreover, your internship will include two days of work at two museums on our platform. In this way, you will get to experience this internship from both an e-commerce side and a museum side, creating the most complete picture!
As a start-up, communication is fast and easy at Dutch Museum Gift Shop, and you will work closely together with a small group of colleagues. These include our founder Jitske and the retail managers of the 16 museums on our platform. Our small-scale structure means that you should have a proactive attitude and enjoy working independently or in small groups.
This is what you will be doing:
– Preparing and planning marketing campaings.
– Writing and editing product content.
– SEO-optimization.
– Curating our social media feeds.
– Writing blog posts and newsletters.
– Maintaining close contact with museums.
– Ensure that we display correct / up-to-date content on our website and that company standards and guidelines are followed.
This is what we are looking for:
– First of all: a lover of arts and culture in all their forms! Culture? You live and breathe it.
– Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree in the field of marketing, communication or a degree related to arts and culture (An internship assignment from your institution is possible, but not necessary).
– Fluent in Dutch and English (German is a plus).
– Currently living in the Netherlands (Amsterdam would be preferable).
– A hands-on and proactive attitude
– An eye for detail.
– Excellent oral and written communication skills.
– Independent and well-organized.
– Available for 3-4 days per week for a period of 6 months.
And it’s a plus if you have…
– Experience with content management, WordPress or WooCommerce (but don’t worry if you don’t, we will teach you everything!).
– Knowledge of PhotoShop or InDesign.
