In the exhibition ‘Glass, Made in Antiquity’ you will discover more than 200 glass objects from the archaeology collection of the Allard Pierson Museum. Transparent or opaque, in bright or soft colours, elegantly decorated and unique in shape; it is astonishing that the fragile material has remained so beautiful for centuries. Equally special is the craftsmanship with which the glass utensils and ornaments have been made. In recent years, the latest research methods have been used to fathom the technical aspects of glass from Antiquity. In the exhibition you can enjoy the beauty of the collection and learn more about the refined production methods of glass in Antiquity.

From 13 April to 21 September 2025, the Dordrecht Museum is hosting the exhibition Carel de Nerée. Different from the others. The work of Carel de Nerée tot Babberich (1880-1909) is one of the most fascinating in Dutch art around 1900. His refined drawings, such as The Swans and Ecstasy: After the Sacrifice, evoke associations with the work of major European fin-de-siècle artists such as Aubrey Beardsley, Gustav Klimt and Jan Toorop.

In the 400th anniversary of his birth, the Dordrechts Museum is reflecting on the life of Johan de Witt, one of the most important and best-known politicians in Dutch history. In a historical art exhibition with works by the most famous artists from the seventeenth century, the museum asks the question: who was Johan de Witt?

The exhibition presents the winners of the 68th World Press Photo contest. Six regional juries and an international jury evaluated 59,320 entries from 3,778 photographers across 141 countries.

16 March 2025 – 14 September 2025 –

In the exhibition you will get to know caravan dwellers from Drenthe across different periods. From pedlars to seasonal workers and from P. Kremer, who drove his caravan into Assen in 1876, to well-known contemporary travellers, such as football coach Joseph Oosting from Emmen.

22 November 2024 – 25 May 2025 –

Sex: Jewish Positions presents a range of perspectives on sex and sexuality – from religious rituals to art and popular culture. In the exhibition you will hear and see diverse points of view from medieval rabbis, contemporary artists, philosophers, sex therapists, Talmudic sages and influencers.

28 February 2025 – 31 August 2026 –

After a long period of storage, visitors can view the 18th-century chamber theatre by Baron van Slingelandt again from 28 February until the summer of 2026.
