In the Winti, the connection with the ancestors is central. The colors blue and white represent the Kabra: the ancestors. Blue refers to the royal ancestral line of West Africa, and white symbolizes death, cleanliness, and purity. In the Netherlands, we have since the 17th century, the colors blue and white associated with a ‘typically Dutch’ tradition: Delft blue pottery, initially inspired by Chinese porcelain. Kabra Blauw is created by bringing these blue and white traditions together in one new showpiece.
