Tree houses, cottages, mobile homes and vehicle cabins. You can shelter there from bad weather and are protected from attacks from outside. Mirjam Völker finds these kinds of places fascinating. They are central to her works of art. Only the structures she paints, builds and films almost fall apart from misery. They are often located in deserted places where nature overgrows them. Mirjam Völker’s art has something mysterious about it. Völker is considered one of the artists of the Neue Leipziger Schule. Their art is based on reality, but you regularly discover elements in it that make you look at a work of art differently or stay looking at it for longer. This publication invites you to step into Mirjam Völker’s world and be amazed.
