Museums join forces for a unique advent calendar
Amsterdam, October 9, 2024 – For the first time, several leading Dutch museums have joined forces to create a unique advent calendar that brings art, culture, and science to life in a surprising way. Starting this week, the Museum Advent Calendar is available for pre-order at the Dutch Museum Gift Shop.
The advent calendar offers a special experience for art lovers and culture enthusiasts. Each day, a new door opens to a carefully selected artwork, object, or story from the museums’ rich and diverse collections. Whether it’s historic ship models, fascinating artworks, scientific discoveries, or cultural treasures, each surprise takes the user on an inspiring journey through art and culture.

Collaboration between museums
The Museum Advent Calendar marks a special collaboration between museums, each with its unique focus and collection. For example, the Wereldmuseum is known for its objects from distant cultures, the Scheepvaartmuseum for its maritime heritage, the Dordrechts Museum for its collection of Dutch paintings, and the Teylers Museum for its unique combination of art and science. Het Mondriaanhuis, dedicated to the life and work of Piet Mondrian, brings a modernist perspective into the mix with its focus on the celebrated Dutch artist. Meike Gooijer, shop coordinator at the Scheepvaartmuseum, emphasizes the power of collaboration:

The Museum Advent Calendar is currently only available through the webshop. It will be available in the shops of the participating museums starting November 1. Be quick, as the edition is limited.
