In the spring and summer of 2024, part of the Jewish Museum will be transformed into a cinema theater from the 1920s and 1930s. Charlotte Salomon in close-up shows the influence of film on Salomon’s world-famous life artwork Life? or Theater?

Charlotte Salomon in Close-up sheds new light on Salomon’s work. By combining film footage from that era with gouaches from her artwork, you are invited to observe the influence of pre-war Berlin cinema on Salomon’s unique artistic legacy.
