Made in China takes China as a case study for a new perspective on making. With a mix of objects, timelines, art, fashion, photos and videos, the exhibition shows the making culture of China, which is centuries old and at the same time very much alive. The various meanings of ‘making’ are also examined through the lens of contemporary artists and designers such as Cao Fei, Susan Fang, Jing He, Ma Ke, Li Xiaofeng and Yang Yongliang. They are not only makers, but also reflect on different aspects of making in their work.
This exhibition was also previously on display at the Wereldmuseum Rotterdam, from October 11, 2024, to August 31, 2025.
