The publication Garrett Bradley – Revolutions encompasses narrative, documentary and experimental forms of filmmaking, and reflects the increasingly abstract and sculptural nature of the artist’s work. Bradley invites us to take a step back and consider how and in what ways looking is socially and culturally informed. In doing so, she points to the pitfalls of representation and unravels the mechanisms that determine how we perceive ourselves and others.
This publication coincides with Garrett Bradley’s solo exhibition at Eye Filmmuseum, Amsterdam (2025) and her receipt of the Eye Art & Film Prize (2023). It features a comprehensive visual section of filmstills, alongside a conversation between Garrett Bradley and Rebecca Matalon (guest curator and Senior Curator, Contemporary Arts Museum Houston) and an essay by Vincent van Velsen, Eye’s Head of Exhibitions.
Graphic design: Bardhi Haliti.
Edited by Vincent van Velsen and Marente Bloemheuvel. Published by Eye Filmmuseum, Amsterdam and nai010 uitgevers, Rotterdam, 2025.
Exhibition at Eye Filmmuseum
From 14 June until 7 September 2025 Eye Filmmuseum presents the first European solo museum exhibition by US artist and Oscar-nominated filmmaker Garrett Bradley. The exhibition invites visitors into her world: a rich blend of engagement and artistic experimentation, in which she critically examines (film) history and image-making from a contemporary perspective. In 2023, Bradley was awarded the Eye Art & Film Prize.
