A classic toy that demonstrates evaporation, heat transfer and motion. The bird dips it’s head in the water (beaker not included) and starts evaporating. This leads to a drop in temperature and gas pressure in the head, which causes the (warmer and higher pressured) liquid in the lower half to rise. As it reaches the head of the bird, temperature and pressure are equalized and the process starts over again. This will continue as long as the beak stays wet.
Tip: use demineralized water to prevent deposits of minerals on the bird or the beaker.
