KASSL Editions and SUSAN BIJL are launching a collaboration based on a shared value: what we wear should always be functional and timeless.

This SUSAN BIJL Shopping Bag special edition has been reissued in KASSL’s signature oil-coated cotton blend and lined with the well-known SUSAN BIJL ripstop nylon. The design and material unite the simplicity of both brands. The bag is designed to be worn and used: it becomes more beautiful the longer it is worn.

KASSL Editions and SUSAN BIJL approach their product design in similar ways. Both brands promote a conscious attitude towards purchasing and consuming goods. They make timeless, durable, high-quality items you can wear daily.

KASSL’s signature oil fabric is made from coated cotton, creating a unique hand feel, cracked appearance, and aged look, similar to worn leather. This sets it apart from synthetic, rubber materials, although it may not have the same performance qualities. The intentional cracking and aging add to the aesthetic appeal and take on a unique character over time.

Please note that the fabric of the KASSL oil bags may bleed into lighter fabrics when exposed to moisture, rain, and perspiration. The surface of the oil tissue is hygroscopic, meaning it can absorb moisture. This is due to the presence of natural polymer components in the composition of the fabric, which can expand under conditions of high humidity. This expansion can contribute to the occurrence of a halo effect. In terms of wear and color migration, it is important to remember that genuine leather and oiled fabric, because they are an imitation of leather, have similar limitations in terms of performance. Therefore, we strongly recommend not wearing lighter fabrics, such as cotton or wool, under the dark oil bag when it is humid outside.

As for oil stains, the KASSL production team recommends using green soap and/or ox gall soap and a soft towel to remove the stains. Carefully applying a soft brush can also be an option. If the stain does not disappear on the first try, let the fabric dry and try again later. To clarify the cleaning advice: “Green soap” refers to green household soap that is commonly available in any supermarket, and “Ox bile soap” is a stain remover, a natural product made from ox bile.
