About the artits
Alida Pott (1888-1931) was the ‘first ladies member’ of De Ploeg. As a member of the first hour of the Groningen artists’ collective, she held a number of board positions there from 1918. Here she also met Ploeglid George Martens, whom she married in 1922. After the birth of their two children, she became less active in the art circle. Her untimely death put an end to a delicate and promising artistry. She left behind a relatively small oeuvre, consisting of oil paintings, watercolors, drawings and collages. Alida Pott & De Ploeg uses thirty works to show the expressiveness and idiosyncrasy that are so characteristic of her style.
