Mariëtte Wolbert inspired this tea towel from a television advertisement by the Ministry of Health recommending the daily use of a clean dishcloth/towel. Mariette studied the common bacteria in a kitchen and has incorporated these into the design.
Mariëtte Wolbert designed a new pattern and named it Soft Square. This kitchen towel is inspired by the painting “Huis ten Bosch” by the artist Ten Compe (1750). The design is an abstract graphic version of the painting. The people’s clothing and the colors in the sky and of the building are incorporated in the translation of weaving these kitchen towels. She then applied this new color chart to other designs like La Bomba Tulipa/pink, Woven Windmill/pink, and Bella Salmonella/pink.
