Vincent Mentzel. Photos

For almost forty years, Vincent Mentzel (b. 1945) was the staff photographer of the Dutch newspaper NRC Handelsblad: he literally captured the news. Mentzel matured into one of the Netherlands’ best-known photographers, especially due to his innovative reporting of The Hague’s politics. With his striking portraits of politicians and informal photo reports of the Binnenhof, he made Dutch politics more personal and human for many readers.

An exhibition of Mentzel’s work can be seen in the Rijksmuseum until 6 June 2022.
