A big inspiration for the Depot Toolbelt was the Depot as a work building with many tools for restoration and conservation. Because every day can be different, the toolbelt is designed to be worn in a flexible way and modular way. The toolbelt is made from tarpaulin upcycled from a waste stream.
The pattern pieces for the toolbelt were machine-cut from the canvas by Boer & van Wijk printing company. The bags are locally assembled in the workshop of AnoukxVera at De Wasserij. Leftover tarpaulin from Schiedam-based sailmaker Bingham as a base, combined with a silver car belt, creates a robust and futuristic look. The toolbelts are finished with colorful details such as a neon label and funky strings.
AnoukxVera went through several iterations of the design to ensure the best possible quality and functionality. These iterations had to do with material choices, but also the feasibility in production and the shape and size of the bags.
