Tile Depot X MVRDV

25,00

Based upon a 17th-century plate, De Lampetkan (in 1676 – 1725) that forms part of the Boijmans collection, the depot tile is an encapsulation of the idea of “Dutch-ness” across time.

The tile is designed by MVRDV in collaboration with Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, and locally produced in the Netherlands.

Referencing the centuries-old craft of Delft Blue that the Dutch popularised worldwide, the design combines a traditional scene with the MVRDV-designed Depot Boijmans Van Beuningen, which – as the world’s first publicly accessible art depot – dares to do something never seen before. Two Dutch icons thus offer complementary visions of Dutch identity, synthesized by the reflections in the building’s façade.
