Staten yachts were used in the 17th ‘till the 19th century for the transport of high-ranking persons such as city councils, people of nobility, commanders of the army and navy and directors of the VOC. The ships were richly decorated, comfortably furnished and fast. Staten yachts were intentionally impressive to showcase the wealth and high position of the passenger.
