Aart Klein could wait for hours for the right image. In the hopeful photos of Amsterdam in the 1950s and 1960s, he developed his own distinct graphic style. Black and white photography meant for Aart Klein the drawing with light on a black foundation. The achievements of theatre photography (to photograph with limited light) made him a wizard in the darkroom. His work also became known outside the Netherlands and was shown during celebrated exhibitions.
