Always innovative and often provocative, Rembrandt van Rijn turned the art world of the Golden Age upside down. Rembrandt was not merely an innovator, he was a rebel: the son of a Leiden miller who broke the rules of art, and worked his way up to become one of the greatest artists and storytellers of all time.
