Il \u00e9tait membre de la guilde des artistes d&rsquo;Amsterdam lorsque Rembrandt y \u00e9tait \u00e9galement. Il a travaill\u00e9 pour la mairie d&rsquo;Amsterdam. Il recevait des ordres de Johan de Witt et \u00e9tait probablement pr\u00e9sent lorsqu&rsquo;il fut assassin\u00e9.
