The design of these museum socks is based off a stained glass window at De Nieuwe Kerk, entitled The Garden and designed by the Tilburg visual artist Marc Mulders. This window is the national memento on the occasion of the silver jubilee of Queen Beatrix.
The window represents a garden, a symbol of the arrangement of diversity; something that the head of state also stands for. In 2007, The Garden was voted the best work of art of the last fifty years in an internet poll.
