Im Laufe der Jahrhunderte haben K\u00fcnstler, Schriftsteller, Dichter und Denker den Garten auf unterschiedliche Weise beschrieben, dargestellt und gestaltet. In der mittelalterlichen Kunst war der Garten ein Spiegelbild des Paradieses, ein Ort der Harmonie und Fruchtbarkeit, abgeschirmt von weltlichen Problemen. Im 18. Jahrhundert kippte dieses Bild: Der Garten wurde zum Symbol weltlicher Macht und Politik. Das Anthropoz\u00e4n, die \u00c4ra, in der der Mensch die Natur mit verheerenden Folgen vollst\u00e4ndig beherrscht, zwingt uns, die Rolle, die wir der Natur in den letzten Jahrzehnten zugeschrieben haben, radikal zu \u00fcberdenken. Unter zeitgen\u00f6ssischen Machern gibt es ein erneutes Interesse am Thema Garten.
