Glas ist eines der faszinierendsten Materialien, die wir kennen, und vereint eine Reihe attraktiver Eigenschaften. Mal sind seine Farben faszinierend sch\u00f6n, mal staunen wir \u00fcber seine Transparenz. Es reagiert selten mit anderen Substanzen und nimmt daher keine Ger\u00fcche an. Ein Nachteil ist seine Zerbrechlichkeit. Daf\u00fcr l\u00e4sst es sich gut recyceln \u2013 etwas, das die Menschen der Antike schon wussten (und sinnvoll nutzten?). Auch f\u00fcr sie \u2013 insbesondere in der R\u00f6merzeit \u2013 spielte Glas im Alltag eine wichtige Rolle. Denken Sie an Flaschen, die \u00d6l oder Wein enthielten. Oder an kleine Fl\u00e4schchen f\u00fcr Duft\u00f6l.<\/p>\n

Allard Pierson aus Amsterdam besitzt eine umfangreiche Sammlung arch\u00e4ologischen Glases. In den letzten Jahren wurden mehrere St\u00fccke erforscht, vor allem im Hinblick auf ihre technischen Aspekte. Wie wurde Glas hergestellt und aus welchen Bestandteilen besteht es? Dieses Buch katalogisiert nicht nur Allard Piersons umfangreiche Sammlung arch\u00e4ologischen Glases, sondern enth\u00e4lt auch mehrere Artikel \u00fcber spannende neue Forschungen zu antikem Glas.<\/p>\n

\u00dcber den Autor<\/h3>\n

Ren\u00e9 van Beek (1958) studierte Klassische Arch\u00e4ologie an der Universit\u00e4t Amsterdam. Nach seinem Studium verbrachte er mehrere Jahre mit Ausgrabungen in der T\u00fcrkei, bevor er Kurator f\u00fcr die Klassische Welt am Allard Pierson Museum (Sammlungen der Universit\u00e4t Amsterdam) wurde. Dort besch\u00e4ftigt er sich haupts\u00e4chlich mit der r\u00f6mischen Kultur und der dortigen Sammlung von Gipsabg\u00fcssen antiker Statuen. Als Glasliebhaber und Kenner dieses faszinierenden Materials erforschte er in den letzten Jahren intensiv die antike Glassammlung des Museums.<\/p>\n

Ausstellung im Allard Pierson Museum<\/h3>\n

In der Ausstellung \u201eGlas, hergestellt in der Antike\u201c entdecken Sie \u00fcber 200 Glasobjekte aus der arch\u00e4ologischen Sammlung des Allard Pierson Museums. Transparent oder opak, in leuchtenden oder sanften Farben, elegant verziert und einzigartig in der Form \u2013 es ist erstaunlich, dass das zerbrechliche Material \u00fcber Jahrhunderte hinweg so sch\u00f6n geblieben ist. Ebenso au\u00dfergew\u00f6hnlich ist die Handwerkskunst, mit der die Glasger\u00e4te und -ornamente hergestellt wurden. In den letzten Jahren wurden modernste Forschungsmethoden eingesetzt, um die technischen Aspekte des antiken Glases zu ergr\u00fcnden. In der Ausstellung k\u00f6nnen Sie die Sch\u00f6nheit der Sammlung genie\u00dfen und mehr \u00fcber die raffinierten Herstellungsmethoden von Glas in der Antike erfahren.<\/p>\n
