In his native Spain, artist Antonio López (1936) is a phenomenon. He is labeled as the ‚greatest living realistic artist‘. His works are diverse. In his paintings, drawings and sculptures, the Master of Spanish Realism not only chooses different subjects, but also different materials.
Characteristic of the Spaniard is his extremely detailed working method: the painting process is a way to get to know the world better, he believes. By measuring everything extensively and always staying close to his subject, López knows how to capture reality flawlessly. But his works never become distant or cold.
